While grant proposals are a critical part of the foundation fundraising process, the proposal never stands alone. What's also critically important is how you and your organization communicate with donors and prospective donors in the interest of building philanthropic partnerships.
This seminar will offer tips on initiating and building relationships with foundations, starting with the initial approach. Every stage of the process will be addressed: what to do prior to submission, while the proposal is pending, and after the funder's decision has been made. Topics covered include: how to initiate contact with potential funders; planning calls and other communications; managing site visits; and communicating with funders after the grant decision has been reached.
This valuable session will feature an interactive discussion with a panel of foundation representatives who will offer candid perspectives and respond to questions. Presenters will include: Debra Hershey Guren - president and CEO, The Hershey Foundation
; Kathy Hallissey - director of community-responsive grantmaking, The Cleveland Foundation
; Carrie Miller - regional training specialist, The Foundation Center
; and Heather Torok - senior program officer, Saint Luke's Foundation
. Serving as moderator will be Mike Matoney, CEO of Crossroads and New Directions, Inc.
