Are you new to the field of grantseeking? Are you an experienced grantseeker looking for a refresher?
Discover what funders are looking for in nonprofit organizations seeking grants and learn how to find potential funders in this newly revised course that combines elements of both the Foundation Center's "Grantseeking Basics" and "Introduction to Finding Funders" classes.
You will learn the 10 most important things you need to know about finding grants, including:
Who funds nonprofits and what their motivations are
What funders really want to know about the organizations they are interested in funding
How to identify potential funders and make the first approach
How to conduct online grant research
Please note that this program will also include approximately 30 minutes of hands-on, guided instruction in online grant research. It is advisable, but not necessary, to bring a laptop/tablet for this portion of the class.
Capping this valuable session will be an interactive discussion with outstanding panelists who will offer both the grantmaker's and the grantseeker's perspective. Presenters will include:
- Marcia Egbert - senior program officer for human services, The George Gund Foundation
- Cecil Lipscomb - executive director, United Black Fund of Greater Cleveland, Inc.
- Carrie Miller - regional training coordinator, Foundation Center - Cleveland
- Michael Parry - chief development officer, The City Mission
- Lauren Steiner - president and founder, Grants Plus
Moderating the conversation will be Dick Bennett, CEO of the Lake County YMCA.
